~Revamping the Arisan Vibe!~
Ever tried arisan? It's this awesome Indonesian tradition where everyone chips in for a good time. But, you know, traditions come with their tricky parts. The classic challenge? Dealing with drama, like dishonesty and a lack of clearness, which can spoil the arisan fun.
Teman Arisan is the solution, you're not just rolling with tradition; you're upgrading it to a vibe where honesty and transparency steal the show!
~Inside Arisan Realities~
I looked into arisan challenges through both outside and inside research. From external research, I found issues like arisan leaders taking off with funds, members delaying payments, winners disappearing, and a lack of transparency.
Internally, I chatted with four people on Google Meet, discussing their experiences, roles, and discovering on-the-ground issues. Doing both helps me really understand arisan challenges, combining what I learned from research with what people actually go through.
~User Persona Compilation~
After chatting with different users, I combined all their needs into one user persona. Let me introduce you to Myrtha, who embodies the main features and wishes of our users. Myrtha helps us understand what everyone is looking for, making it easier to design solutions that cater to everyone's needs.
~Flow~
I listened to what Arisan users wanted and made sure both the bandar and members can use the app at the same time. The app is designed to be easy for everyone, so everyone can join in smoothly and have a good time
~Wireframing~
I used figma for wireframing, as the starting point when asking users for feedback. It's like showing a rough room plan before deciding on the details. The wireframe helped make sure the arisan platform is easy for users to understand.
~High Fidelity Design~
After receiving user feedback on the wireframe, I felt more assured moving on to the high fidelity design stage. This allowed users to get a clearer picture of the Teman Arisan app's visual design. Imagine it like adding colors and details to a rough sketch, bringing the application to life visually.
Here are a few examples of what the high fidelity design looks like, offering users a more detailed and refined view of the Teman Arisan application's overall appearance.
~Visual Design~
When deciding on the visual style, I listened to users, especially the majority of women users, and added a soft red with a feminine touch, paired with a bold blue navy.
However, it's worth mentioning that the color choices are still up for discussion. I want to hear more from users to make sure the colors we pick in the end work well for everyone.
~Lesson Learned~
Avoid Assumptions:
Don't assume. Initially, external research led to assumptions that user interviews disproved. The lesson: validate assumptions through direct user engagement.
Listen to Users:
Continuous user feedback shaped the Teman Arisan app. Regular testing taught us the value of an iterative, user-focused approach.
Stay Flexible in Design:
Adapting design choices based on user feedback is key. Our experience adjusting colors highlighted the importance of being responsive to user preferences.
